Conwy is on the north coast of Wales across from the Conwy River. It is a market town and popular tourist destination in North Wales. The town walls and castle were built between 1283 and 1289. Originally Conwy held Aberconwy Abbey but King Edward had the monks moved to Maenan. English settlers in the area were persuaded to move within the town’s walls. Welsh people were forbidden to enter the town.
